Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 6, 2026

This policy explains what information FurrySMP collects when you visit furrysmp.com, play on the Minecraft server or join our Discord, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. The short version: we only collect what we need to run the server and keep it safe, we never sell your information, and this website has no ads, no Google Analytics and no YouTube embeds.

Who we are

FurrySMP is run by whiscey (whiscey.net). FurrySMP is part of the whiscey.net network of Minecraft servers, and some of our systems (like page-view counting, the staff list and moderation tools) are shared across that network.

If you have a question or a request about your information, email [email protected]. You can also open a ticket in our Discord.

What we collect

When you visit this website

You don't need an account to use furrysmp.com. On every page:

  • Hosting. The site is hosted by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic browser information to deliver pages and block attacks.
  • Fonts. Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser information when a page loads.
  • Page-view counting. Each page you open sends a small note to whiscey.net with the page address, the page you came from (the referrer) and your screen width. From the request, whiscey.net works out your country and a rough device and browser type. To count unique visitors without tracking anyone, it stores a salted, one-way hash of your IP address and browser that changes every day. Your raw IP address is not stored and no cookies are used.
  • Images. The player heads in the footer load from Minotar and MC-Heads, which can see your IP address, like any site you load an image from.

On some pages:

  • Home page: the live server status and player count come from mcstatus.io (api.mcstatus.io), which your browser contacts directly. The badge maker saves what you type (name, species, pronouns) only in your own browser.
  • Ranks page: to guess your local currency, your browser asks ipapi.co, which uses your IP address to work out where you are. Exchange rates come from open.er-api.com.
  • Stats page: uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a bot check, before a lookup. Turnstile processes information about your browser and device to tell people from bots. Player heads here come from Crafatar, CreeperNation, TydiumCraft and MC-Heads.
  • Staff page: loads the current staff list from whiscey.net. Player heads come from the same skin services.
  • Vote page: voting-site icons load from Google's favicon service, so Google sees your IP address.
  • Bedrock page: country flags load from flagicons.lipis.dev. The recommended DNS server is picked using the country Cloudflare detects from your request; this isn't stored.
  • Analytics page: shows how many players were online over time. We only record the number of players, not who was online.

Stored on your own device

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The site does save a few things in your browser so it works the way you'd expect:

  • furry_fishing cookie (kept for 1 year): your Fishing minigame progress. A backup copy is also kept in your browser's local storage.
  • Local storage: the last username you looked up on the Stats page (lastStatsUser) and the Vote page (voteUsername), and your badge text on the home page.

These stay on your device. Usernames are only sent to us when you look something up. You can clear all of this at any time in your browser settings.

When you play on the server

Like most Minecraft servers, FurrySMP (and the shared whiscey.net network systems) record:

  • Your Minecraft username and UUID, so the server knows who you are. Both Java and Bedrock players are covered.
  • Your IP addresses, to keep the server safe: stopping banned players and alt accounts from coming back, and protecting against attacks. We look up the rough location of IP addresses using ip-api.com (country, region, city, internet provider, and whether it looks like a VPN or proxy). This is only shown to staff.
  • Play sessions, such as when you join and leave.
  • Chat messages and commands, which appear in the server console logs so staff can handle reports.
  • Gameplay stats, such as playtime, first join date, kills, deaths, mob kills, blocks broken and placed, chat message count, fish caught and votes.
  • Your in-game progress, like your inventory, money, claims, homes and rank.
  • Moderation records, like warnings, mutes and bans.

When you use our Discord

Our community lives on Discord, which is run by Discord Inc. under its own privacy policy. We can see what you post in our server and your Discord username and profile, like any server owner. Tickets you open are seen by staff. Bans in the FurrySMP Discord may be synced across the other Discord servers in the whiscey.net network.

When you buy from the store

Payments are handled by our store's payment provider. We receive your username and what you bought; the provider's privacy policy applies.

What's shown publicly

  • Player stats: anyone can type a username into the Stats page and see that player's gameplay stats (playtime, first join, chat message count, kills and so on). IP addresses and the content of your chat are never shown.
  • Vote cooldowns: anyone can type a username into the Vote page and see when that player can next vote on each voting site.
  • Punishments: when a player is punished, the player's name, the reason and the staff member's name are posted in the #punishments channel in the FurrySMP Discord.
  • Staff: the Staff page shows staff members' Minecraft names, nicknames, roles and pronouns. Staff can ask for any of these to be changed or removed.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • Running the server and website, including saving your progress and showing stats: our legitimate interests in providing the game and site you chose to use.
  • Keeping players safe: moderation, handling reports, and stopping cheating, griefing, attacks and ban evasion. This is also a legitimate interest, and it protects our players.
  • Understanding how the site and server are doing, like how many people visit and play: legitimate interests, done with daily hashes and counts rather than tracking individuals.
  • Delivering purchases: to perform our contract with you.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information, and we don't share it for advertising. We only share it with these services that help us run FurrySMP, or when the law requires it:

  • Cloudflare: website hosting, attack protection and the Turnstile bot check.
  • Google: Google Fonts (every page) and Google's favicon service (Vote page).
  • whiscey.net: our network's own systems for page-view counts, the staff list, stats and moderation.
  • mcstatus.io: server status and player count.
  • Skin and head services: Minotar, MC-Heads, Crafatar, CreeperNation and TydiumCraft.
  • ipapi.co and open.er-api.com: currency guess and exchange rates on the Ranks page.
  • flagicons.lipis.dev: flags on the Bedrock page.
  • Discord: our community, tickets, punishment posts and ban syncing.
  • ip-api.com: rough IP location and VPN checks for staff.
  • Our store's payment provider: purchases.

Voting sites, Discord and our store are run by other companies with their own privacy policies.

International transfers

Many of the services above, including Cloudflare, Google and Discord, are based in the United States, so your information may be processed there or in other countries with different data protection laws than yours. Where the law requires it, these providers use safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Page-view counting: daily visitor hashes are kept for 100 days; overall totals (no hashes) for 400 days.
  • Server console logs (which include chat): 3 days.
  • Player and IP records, stats and moderation history: we don't currently delete these automatically. They're kept while you play and until you ask us to delete them.
  • Browser storage: the fishing cookie lasts 1 year; local storage stays until you clear it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:

  • see the information we hold about you (access);
  • correct it if it's wrong;
  • delete it;
  • stop using it for something (objection);
  • give you a copy in a format you can take elsewhere (portability).

Email [email protected] or open a ticket in our Discord. We may need to check that the account is yours first. We may keep some records, such as bans, where we need them to keep the server safe.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority, such as the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) in the UK or the authority in your EU country.

California residents: you have the right to know what we collect, to ask us to delete it or correct it, and not to be treated differently for using these rights. We do not sell your personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Do Not Track

We don't respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals, but there's no advertising or cross-site tracking on this website anyway.

Children and younger players

FurrySMP is for players aged 13 and over, and many of our players are teenagers. We don't ask for real names, ages, addresses or photos, and our rules forbid asking other players for personal information. If you're a parent or guardian and have a question, or want your child's information removed, email [email protected].

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or how we use it, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. For bigger changes we may also post in our Discord. See also our Terms of Service and Rules.
